The panels are composed of 7 samples at 0.5-1 log distances. The range covers the concentrations which are clinically relevant for treatment decisions. Although some real time assays may be able to detect wider ranges we limited the range to 7 logs. The panels can be used to calibrate quantitative assays. The panels are not suitable for sensitivity analysis of the assay. The format of the panels is 7 dilutions filled off with 1.0 ml. The blood borne viruses are quantified using the bDNA 3.0 assay, the parvo B19 against the WHO standard using the Roche RT test. The other markers are quantified in Arbitrary Units/ml using limiting dilution analysis. In such a case the actual copy number is probably higher.
